Frequently Asked Questions
What is CCHt., Hypnosis, or Hypnotherapy?
CCHt. - I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist
Hypnosis is a natural, trance-like state of mind characterized by focused attention, heightened concentration, and reduced awareness of one's surroundings. It's a natural state of mind we all experience throughout the day, like when you're completely absorbed in a movie, a book, or a repetitive task and lose track of time.
The State: Hypnosis itself is not a form of therapy. It's the tool, or the state of consciousness, that a practitioner uses.
Characteristics: During hypnosis, a person is more open to suggestion and can access the subconscious mind more readily. Despite common misconceptions from stage shows, you are not asleep or unconscious, and you remain in control. You can hear and respond to what's happening and can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state at any time.
Hypnotherapy is the professional use of hypnosis as a therapeutic tool to help people address a wide range of issues. It's a form of psychotherapy that utilizes the hypnotic state to facilitate positive change. It's a way of communicating with the subconscious to alleviate a root cause of behavior through positive suggestions.
The Application: A hypnotherapist guides a client into a hypnotic state and then uses various therapeutic techniques, such as suggestion, imagery, soma and regression, to help the client modify thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs.
The Goal: The purpose of hypnotherapy is to create lasting change by working with the subconscious mind, which is often the source of unwanted habits, fears, and emotional responses. It is used to treat conditions like anxiety, phobias, chronic pain, and, popularily know to help with things like smoking cessation or weight management. In this case we work a lot with somatic intelligence and re patterning old stories and habits.
The Professional: I am trained to safely induce hypnosis and apply therapeutic techniques to help a client achieve their goals.

How does Hypnotherapy work?
First let me start by saying, "you are always in control of yourself."
Every memory and event is stored in the subconscious mind. Stored events are what create all behavior including impactful issues. Hypnotherapy is a most efficient way of incorporating cognitive therapy and hypnosis to recognize root cause of behavior that one desires to change.
I will help you chisel away any issue and discover a new way of being.
In other words, hypnosis is used to facilitate a new, updated, way of life to fit the person you want to live.

Can I be hypnotized?
Everyone experiences a state of hypnosis. A few examples of this natural state are when you are fully absorbed in a movie, reading a book or driving a car. In each of these examples, one can lose track of time and experience different emotions. This is a natural example of narrow focus and suggestible state.
Everyone has different levels of suggestibility. I will test your suggestibility to determine the most effective approach for you.

Will I lose control or say things I don't want to say?
No. This is one of the most common myths about hypnosis. You are not unconscious or asleep; you are in a state of heightened focus and awareness. Your subconscious mind will automatically reject any suggestions or questions that go against your personal values or desires. You will not reveal any secrets or anything else you do not want to share. You are in complete control of yourself, including what you say and do, throughout the entire experience. Every question is designed to help you get the most out of your session, all while respecting your boundaries.
How many sessions will it take?
Hypnotherapy is a "do with" process. I am "facilitating" your personal evolution. Hypnosis is like a mental workout. Reinforcement helps even more. I recommend 2-6 sessions to start. Your commitment and desire determine how many sessions it will take for your goal.
Does Hypnotherapy work with my belief system?
Hypnotherapy can be used with any belief system. It is a form of therapy that is used with a natural human state. I will work with your existing beliefs to reframe, reinforce and strengthen your own belief system.
Is Hypnotherapy covered by insurance?
All insurance policies differ. Please check with your insurance company to see if Hypnotherapy is covered. I do not accept insurance, but I am happy to write receipts.
How does the first Hypnotherapy session work?
3 - 6 sessions is suggested to start.
60 min - 90 minutes
All sessions are over zoom or in office.
(Over zoom- Find a quiet, undisturbed and comfortable spot, your temple)
The first session is the longest ranging from 90-120 minutes. It consists of four main parts.
1. We'll have an in-depth consultation to address the challenges you are currently experiencing, determine any blocks or root cause (if known), and create an intention for a desired outcome.
2. A detailed description of how hypnotherapy works, the Theory of Mind and how it works with your specific case.
3. Suggestibility Test. This test allows me to know exactly how you best receive information for impactful suggestions to your subconscious mind.
4. The last part is Hypnotherapy itself. You will change seats to the comfortable "Hypno Chair" and this is where change occurs. We communicate with the subconscious your desired perceptions.

What is my User Manual?
That’s a great question! Think of your "user manual" as the unique set of instructions for how your mind and body work best.
Throughout our lives, we often learn what we don't like or what doesn't work for us. That's important information, but hypnotherapy doesn't dwell on those old, unwanted patterns. Instead, we use a collaborative process to discover and reinforce the things that do work for you. We focus on your strengths, your values, and the goals that bring you joy.
The beautiful part is that your personal user manual is never finished. It’s constantly being updated with new insights and positive experiences as you journey through life.

What is Somatic hypnosis?
Somatic refers to the body, particularly the physical body as distinct from the mind or spirit. In the context of therapy and psychology, somatic approaches focus on the mind-body connection, acknowledging that our physical sensations, movements, and postures are like a communication network to our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
Somatic hypnosis is a therapeutic approach that combines the principles of somatic therapy with the trance state of hypnosis. somatic hypnosis places a strong emphasis on the body's role in healing. The core idea is that unprocessed emotions and past traumas can be "stored" in the body as physical sensations, tensions, or chronic pain.
Here's how it generally works:
Induction: The hypnotherapist guides the individual into a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, similar to traditional hypnosis.
Somatic Awareness: The individual will be guided to turn their attention inward and notice physical sensations in the body. They might be asked to describe what they feel or sense.
Exploration and Release: I will facilitate a non-judgmental exploration of these physical sensations. The individual is encouraged to "listen" to what their body is trying to communicate, allowing the sensation to be present without trying to change or suppress it. Through this process, the underlying emotion or memory connected to the physical sensation can surface. The hypnotherapist helps the individual process and release these stored emotions, often leading to a physical release of tension or a sense of lightness.
Integration: The session concludes with the hypnotherapist helping the individual integrate these new insights and bodily sensations, empowering them with a deeper understanding of their own mind-body connection and providing tools for self-regulation and healing.
In essence, somatic hypnosis is a gentle yet powerful way to access and resolve issues by working directly with the wisdom of the body.
